eMachines Bows ‘Value’ Desktops, LCD Displays

Irvine, Calif. — PC maker eMachines introduced a new line of value-priced desktop PCs and two LCD displays.

“These new eMachines desktop PCs offer a range of performance levels and features that not only meet the computing needs of students and families, but offer attractive prices that will appeal to today’s budget conscious consumers,” said Glenn Jystad, senior manager for eMachines desktops.

The T3656 desktop PC features the Intel Celeron processor, 1GB DDR2 memory and a 160GB hard drive for a suggested $299.

The new T5274 desktop priced at a suggested $399 features the Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor, 2GB DDR2 memory and a 320GB SATA II hard drive.

For consumers looking for a complete computer package, eMachines is also offering the W3653, which comes with both a desktop PC and a 17-inch widescreen LCD monitor all for a suggested $498. The PC features an Intel Celeron Dual-Core processor, 1GB DDR2 memory and a 320GB SATA II hard drive.

All three of the new eMachines desktops feature a SuperMulti drive for burning and playing back content on CD and DVD. Each is also equipped with a 15-in-one digital media card reader, six USB ports, six-channel high-definition audio and amplified stereo speakers.

The machines come preloaded with Microsoft Works 9.0. Microsoft Windows Vista with Service Pack 1 is also included.

Additionally, the new eMachines PCs are pre-installed with the eMachines Comprehensive Security Bundle. This includes a 60-day trial of Norton 360 All-in-One Security.

Also included on all eMachines systems is a pro-active service tool called BigFix that identifies and sends messages offering updates to enhance the performance or capabilities of the PC.

The PCs come with a standard one-year limited warranty.

In addition to the new desktop PCs, eMachines has also bowed widescreen LCDs .

The eMachines 17-inch widescreen LCD, priced at a suggested $189, features a 1,440 by 900 resolution, 600:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time.

The company’s 19-inch widescreen LCD offers 720p high-definition support and an 800:1 contrast ratio. In addition to the 1,440 by 900 resolution and 5ms response time, the display supports DVI with high-bandwidth digital content protection (HDCP) for viewing digital movies and copy-protected content. It retails for a suggested $209.
