CEA’s Chupka Given IAEE Woman Of Achievement Award

Arlington, Va. — Karen Chupka, Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) senior VP of International CES and corporate business strategy, has won the 2015 International Association of Exhibitions and Events’ (IAEE) Woman of Achievement award.

The award recognizes a candidate who has led the way in the advancement of women in the exhibitions and events industry, exhibited outstanding leadership, and made significant contributions to the industry and her community, said CEA. She was honored at the IAEE Women’s Leadership Forum held in Washington this week.

CEA noted in a statement: “Chupka’s dedication to the advancement of women in the technology and exhibitions and events industries is evidenced by the comprehensive involvement of women in producing the International CES and in directing CEA’s policies. Fifty percent of CEA’s senior staff is made up of women and almost half of all vice presidents and higher at CEA are women. More, all of Chupka’s direct reports who make up her CES strategic team are women.”

Chupka has been with CEA since 1989 (with a brief hiatus in 1998) and has held a variety of positions, including business development VP, industry relations and education director, and marketing director.

Noted Gary Shapiro, CEA president and CEO: “Karen’s vision and strategic skills have helped establish the International CES as the annual gathering place for the global technology industry and the greatest show on earth year after year. Karen inspires us all to reach higher, do better and collaborate with those who think differently. She is a true woman of achievement, a shining example of a tradeshow industry leader — male or female. I congratulate her for this well-deserved honor.”
