hhgregg’s chief merchandising officer Keith Zimmerman has left the company after nearly two years in that post.
His departure comes as retailers enter their busiest sales cycle of the year.
The Indianapolis-based appliance, CE and home furnishings chain described the action as a dismissal in a tersely-worded filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The company added that it is launching a search for a successor.
Zimmerman, a 25-year veteran of defunct retail chain American TV & Appliance, joined hhgregg in January 2015 following a brief stint at P.C. Richard & Son.
He became hhgregg’s third chief merchant in two years under former president/CEO Dennis May, underscoring the turmoil at the 220-store business. May himself resigned last February.
More recently, May’s successor, former CFO Robert Riesbeck, reshuffled the senior management deck by making a series of key executive appointments last summer as part of his turnaround strategy for the struggling chain.
