ANDERSON, S.C. – Electrolux has opened a $6.3 million research and development center at its refrigerator plant here.
The 43,000-square-foot lab, which is capable of testing 40 refrigerators at once, is part a five-year, $45 million investment to ensure that the fridge factory remains competitive in the global marketplace, the manufacturer said.
“With the addition of this cold technology center, Electrolux is able to not only make our business more competitive, but also continue to grow it,” said Jack Truong, president/CEO of Electrolux Major Appliances North America.
Electrolux said the 24-year-old Anderson plant is the largest producer of top-mount refrigerators in North America and has shipped more than 25 million products in total.
