Vista, Calif. — Directed Electronics said its Viper remote-starter SmartStart app has hit 2 million downloads.
Directed first introduced SmartStart in 2009.
Mike Simmons, Viper president, said in a statement announcing the news: “At Viper we’re all about connecting people with their cars. We follow the philosophy that customers shouldn’t have to buy a new car to own the latest technology.”
SmartStart is available on the iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and Windows Phone platforms. Pricing ranges from $199 (as an add-on) to $299 for a complete system. Service plans start at $3 per month.
