JVC and ESPN busted out the whuppin’ stick yesterday at the grand opening of the ESPN Zone entertainment center in New York City’s Times Square. The 42,000-square-foot complex is the latest of the high-profile theme restaurants and venues that loom among the midtown office towers and Broadway playhouses.
JVC is providing a variety of high-grade professional and consumer-grade electronics equipment for the interactive sports, dining and entertainment complex, including video projectors, several 13-, 20-, 27-, 32- and 36-inch televisions, 42-inch plasma screens, S-VHS recorders, broadcast equipment including S-VHS editing machines and monitors.
As part of the opening-night promotions, JVC awarded some high-end prizes to the high-scoring contestants in three interactive skill games. Former Dallas Cowboy’s star quarterback Roger Staubach, winner of the NFL Countdown game, got a $449.95 XV-511BK DVD player; a $1,699.95 GR-DVM70 Digital CyberCam went to the winner of the NBA2Night game; and the ESPN Bowling champ went home with a $330 RV-B99GY Kaboom Box.
