Corona, Calif. –TCL is bringing color-accented TVs to the North American market for the first time with the launch of a $249 32-inch smart LED TV whose bezel is available with choice of blue, green or pink accent colors.
The TV also expands the company’s selection of TVs incorporating the Roku TV smart-TV platform. The company already offered 10 Roku TV SKUs with 720p or 1080p resolution starting at $219.
The three SKUs in the TCL Roku TV Color Series deliver 720p resolution, direct LED backlighting, and a 60Hz refresh rate. They’re available at Amazon and BestBuy.com.
“TCL’s goal is to offer consumers high quality products with stylish design and the latest technology at a great value, and the TCL Roku TV Color Series delivers that and more,” said Chris Larson, TCL North America VP.
By incorporating Roku’s smart-TV platform, Roku TVs access all of Roku’s streaming audio and video services, which consists of more than 2,000 streaming channels including Sling TV and WatchESPN. The Roku TV platform is also promoted as simplifying content selection by putting all video sources — TV, Roku streaming services, and connected sources such as game consoles — on a homescreen UI. The TVs also display video, pictures and audio sent wirelessly from a smartphone or tablet running a Roku app.
All TCL Roku TV models, including those in the Color Series portfolio, carry the Netflix Recommended TV designation. Netflix Recommended TVs undergo an evaluation program whose criteria include instant-on capability to display apps, including a prominently displayed Netflix app, as soon as the TV is turned on; a dedicated Netflix button on the TV’s remote; the latest version of Netflix; fast app launch and resume, and fast playback start.
