Bohemia, N.Y. – ADI, the global security and low-voltage distributor, recently launched a connected home display at its branch location, here, to better showcase its automated assortment.
The store-within-a-store is designed to introduce dealers to Z-Wave-enabled smart-home technologies, ADI said, and allows them to demo the solutions through hands-on interactive displays before presenting them to customers.
The in-store shop features more than 50 products and systems covering security, video surveillance, lighting controls, locks, thermostats, garage door sensors and controls, water sensors and valve controls, and window shade controls.
The display concept model helps dealers understand how to integrate security systems with home automation, offer hands-free remote control, and provide a solution that lets users stay connected to their home or office, the distributor said.
The connected-home shop has been well-received by dealers, reported Stu Tisdale, product management director for ADI Americas, and the company plans to also use it for local training events and seminars. Tisdale noted in a company blog that “the explosion of smartphones and tablets and the advancement in apps continue to drive demand for integrated systems, and that Z-Wave-based automation, remote control and connected-home solutions “are creating new growth opportunities across the market.”
Melville, N.Y.-based ADI operates 103 local sales branches that are supplied by nine major distribution centers across North America. Dealers can also purchase inventory online for delivery or branch pick up.
