After extensive testing, comparison and research (and just in time for the back-to-school season), Laptop Mag has released their list of top laptops to buy in 2019.
Best picks on the list include:
- The Dell XPS 13 (2019), complete with a 10th Gen Intel U-Series CPU
- The Acer Aspire E 15, which features a dvd-burner and over eight hours of battery life
- The Asus Chromebook Flip C434, a portable 2-in-1 laptop with a vivid 1080p display and all-day battery life
With back-to-school deals already beginning across the nation, consumers are sure to be inundated with ads and deals. “When you’re looking for a laptop for a student, you want to look at a few key areas: durability, performance, portability, battery life and of course budget,” said Sherri Smith, Assistant Managing Editor of Laptop Mag when asked about finding the right laptop. “We generally recommend investing in a system with at least an Intel Core i5 processor (or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600), 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD
. As far as GPU, that depends on use case. Most people can get by with integrated graphics, but others will need more power, which calls for a discrete card.”
Laptop Mag has tested and reviewed laptops for over two decades. They test over 200 different models per year, subjecting each system to a series of rigorous benchmarks that provide a complete picture of performance, battery life and usability.
“It’s definitely possible to get a decent system for under $500. The Acer Aspire E15 is one of our top budget choices,” Smith added. “However, when shopping in that price range, be prepared to make some sacrifices in performance, display or battery life.”
