Kohl’s, the discount department store known more for apparel and home fashions than CE, has given tech a prominent place in its Black Friday plans.
Its 64-page holiday circular, which was leaked online over the weekend, is rife with electronics beginning with the lead page. There, the chain will show a 32-inch LED HDTV from Westinghouse for $100, a $100 savings, and Fitbit’s Charge HR and Wireless Activity + Sleep wristbands for $120 and $90 respectively, down from $150 and $130 each.
Indeed, the first five pages of the insert focus on tech, including such deals as:
*Skullcandy’s Hesh2 Bluetooth headphones for $70, down from $100;
*a 49-inch LG LED TV for $370, down from $430; and
*a 40-inch Samsung 1080p LED smart TV for $320, down from $530.
The chain is also offering a Microsoft Xbox One “Lego” bundle and PlayStation 4 “Uncharted” bundle, both with 500GB consoles, for $300 each plus an additional $75 store credit.
The doorbusters begin in-store at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving evening, but select items will go on sale starting on Monday, Nov. 23.
Kohl’s has historically offered a smattering of opportunistically purchased CE on endcaps and by checkout aisles, but has recently established permanent in-store fixtures for personal tech, wireless speakers and related accessories.
