Target.com’s Cyber Monday specials have leaked, and the 75-odd deals are light on tech, heavy on apparel.
That should come as no surprise, as the discounter, under chairman/CEO Brian Cornell, has identified fashion, baby, kids and wellness as its core categories, and is pursuing a merchandising strategy that emphasizes those areas.
CE does, however, appear on p. 1 of next Monday’s cyber circular, where it is represented solely by a 48-inch Samsung 4K/UHD TV for $600, down from $900.
The category turns up again on p. 4, in the guise of a $400 Huawei smartwatch, on sale for $320, and that vendor’s P8 Lite 16GB unlocked LTE smartphone, regularly $250 and on sale for $170.
The complete 40-page ad scan is posted at BFads.net, among other comparison shopping services, and, together with Target’s site-wide 15-percent discount, underscores the importance that the discounter has placed on winning Cyber Monday to build its e-commerce cred.
