VIDEO PROCESSOR WORLD LEADER LUMAGEN LAUNCHES $5,495 MSRP VIDEO PROCESSOR, THE RADIANCE PRO 4140

With this move, Lumagen makes adding a video processor — crucial for best home theater performance — more affordable.

New price entry level price point, September promo and new functionality across all Lumagen Radiance Pro processors to control Seymour-Screen Excellence motorized masking systems

Beaverton, OR — August 28, 2024 — Adding to its 22-year legacy as the leader in the design and manufacture of video processing products for home cinema, corporate, and studio markets, Lumagen (CEDIA Expo SR4) has just made video processing more affordable for home cinema enthusiasts.  Today the company announced the addition of the Radiance Pro™ 4140 to its series of award-winning video processors. The Radiance Pro 4140 is priced $1000 less than the Radiance Pro 4240-18G. The Radiance Pro 4140 at $5495 MSRP (USD), represents a new price point for Lumagen and is shipping now.

“The Radiance Pro 4140 incorporates a single 18G input and 9G output in a compact case design with the same outstanding video processing as other models in the Radiance Pro series. The 4140-18G with an 18G output is also available, and is housed in a 1U rackmount case, at $5995 MSRP USD. The single HDMI configuration satisfies the requirements of entry level home cinema systems,” stated Lumagen president Jim Peterson.

A Lumagen video processor is considered by many experts to be an essential part of any quality home cinema. The Radiance Pro series, including the 4140, uses Lumagen’s proprietary video processing algorithms to refine and enhance the video images presented by front projectors, flat panel displays, and LED video walls to provide industry professionals and movie enthusiast’s the best in-motion image experience.

All models in the Radiance Pro series have the same video feature set, which includes the industry’s best HDR Dynamic Tone Mapping (DTM), best scaling for in-motion video content, instant-auto-aspect ratio detection and selection, plus a host of customization features. They support 4k60 inputs, 4K60 outputs, including HDCP 2.3, HDR10, and HLG, and are compatible with Dolby® LLDV™ sources. Additionally, the Radiance Pro 5244 and 5348 models add HDMI dejitter circuitry, which improves audio by reducing the HDMI clock jitter at the audio processor input.

Each Radiance Pro video processor is a custom designed commercial-grade product, manufactured in the USA and engineered to be adaptable to incorporate new features as technology evolves. This proven capability along with free firmware updates and unparalleled customer service provides Lumagen customers with years of the best home cinema video quality available.

Peterson added “Because the Radiance Pro provides the industry’s best processing for in-motion video content, it has become more than a home cinema product. It has found its way into studio post-production suites for use in video quality control for consumer releases, and for use maintaining proper lip-sync using its Genlock feature. Image science is our passion, and our products allow viewers to see what the director intended™. We are excited that the Radiance Pro 4140 allows a broader segment of the home cinema enthusiast market to enjoy the very best in video processing.”

New functionality Between Lumagen and Seymour-Screen Excellence Masking Systems

The 4140 as well as all Lumagen Radiance Pro processors can now directly control the Seymour-Screen Excellence motorized film screen / masking systems.

Peterson describes, “We are working with Seymour to allow customers without a control system to have the Radiance Pro directly control the masking system. One way to think about this is putting the extra cost for the Seymour masking screen into the budget, while avoid the large cost of a Crestron, or other, control system where the cost of the programming far exceeds the controller hardware cost.

The Lumagen Radiance Pro auto-aspect sends the detected aspect ratio to the Seymour screen mask controller as an aspect selection when a new source aspect is detected. The installer programs the Seymour mask controller so that the various aspect selections position the mask at the proper location.

The Radiance Pro sends commands to the Seymour screen masking for 4:3, 16:9, 1.85, 1.90, 2.00, 2.10, 2.20, 2.35, 2.40, 2.55, and 2.76. Each of these positions is programmed into the masking controller so that when the Radiance Pro sends the command selecting an aspect ratio the mask will be positioned in the correct location.

September Promo: Lumagen Upgrading 4140 HDMI Output from 9G to 18G.

“A 9-GHz output handles 12-bit 4:2:2 at 4k24, but is limited to 8-bit 4:2:0 for 4k60. The Radiance Pro output dither mitigates this difference, but for those that want no compromises, the 18 GHz output allows 12-bit 4:2:2,” furthered Peterson.

The Radiance Pro series of video processors will be demonstrated at CEDIA Expo, September 2024, in Sound Room 4 (SR4), booth 4409, plus other locations.
